Author's training course "Modern approaches to providing early speech therapy assistance to children with disabilities"

The training course includes three thematic modules. Students can master the educational program of the entire course (three modules) or take part in one or two modules of interest.

The training course program provides for the discussion of the following issues:

Module 1. General issues of the development of communication skills in children of the first years of life. Patterns of normotypical development and features of delay in communicative development in children of the first years of life.

  • Early age as a sensitive period in the development of the child's speech function (actualization of the problem).
  • The first year of life as a preparatory stage for mastering speech.
  • The second and third years of life - the stage of mastering active speech.
  • Average indicators of mastering non-verbal communicative reactions and speech in infancy and early childhood.
  • The concept of "development crises" and their impact on the formation of the social situation of development, social interaction and communication in children of the first years of life.
  • Formation of non-verbal means of communication in infants and young children.
  • The concept of the leading form of communication and motives for communication.
  • Specificity of manifestations of speech dysontogenesis in young children.

Module 2. Identification of deficiencies in communicative development in infants and young children. General principles of correctional and developmental speech therapy work with children in the first years of life.

  • Analysis of methods of speech therapy examination of infants (in the works of K.L. Pechory, E.L. Frucht, G.V. Pantyukhina, S.Yu. Meshcheryakova, E.O. Smirnova, L.N. Galiguzova, O.E. Thunderous, O.H. Prikhodko, N.Yu. Hryhorenko and others.).
  • Logopedic examination of children of the second and third years of life.
  • Проведение логопедического обследования на базе образовательных организаций на современном этапе в рамках психолого-педагогической диагностики.
  • The specifics of the contingent of young children and the typology of manifestations of deviations in social communication in them.
  • Specificity of deviations in communicative development in various nosologies in the first years of life.

Module 3. The main aspects of speech therapy work with infants and young children. The specifics of speech therapy work with various categories of children with disabilities in the first years of life.

  • Stages and main directions of speech therapy work with children of the first year of life.
  • Methods of speech therapy work with young children.
  • Consultative assistance of a speech therapist to parents of children of the first years of life with disabilities on the formation of their correct communicative behavior with children.
  • Organization of a developing speech environment in the context of family education of children of the first years of life with disabilities.
  • The specifics of the use of objects and toys in speech therapy work.
  • The specifics of the use of subject and plot pictures in speech therapy work.
  • The specifics of speech therapy work with children of the first years with visual impairments.
  • The specifics of speech therapy work with children with hearing impairment.
  • The specifics of speech therapy work with children with disorders of the emotional and volitional sphere.
  • The specifics of speech therapy work with children with impaired functions of the musculoskeletal system.
